Roderick (Rod) Parker served an apprenticeship at the Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) Farnborough gaining qualifications in both Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering. Following National Service with the Royal Air Force he joined Vickers Armstrong Limited as a Structural Test Engineer before moving to Handley Page in a similar capacity.
After three years he was promoted to the Sales Department marketing Turbo Propeller aircraft worldwide. When Handley Page closed he joined the Sperry Corporation as a Marketing Manager responsible for worldwide sales of Avionic Equipment to commercial airlines and manufacturers.
He considers himself fortunate in that, from the start of apprenticeship to retirement, he completed fifty years in the aviation industry. His leisure interests include Table Tennis, Petanque, Aviculture and Bridge.
