Brian spent his working life in the electronics and computer industry. Thirty two years were with the now defunct firm of Ferranti Ltd.; a privately run electrical engineering and electronics company that always tried to be in the forefront of technology. Upon its demise the company was taken over by GEC Marconi for whom he worked for a further 10 years. As a computer systems engineer and project manager Brian worked on mainly military projects for both the UK and overseas governments. He traveled frequently to the Middle East – notably Saudi Arabia - and to Asia, South Africa and the U.S.A.
Since retiring Brian spends time gardening, helping with the grandchildren and playing Pétanque. He has had a lifelong interest in railways, particularly steam locomotives, and runs a U3A group devoted to Steam and Transport.
